De film vertelt het verhaal van een eeuwenoude oorlog die opnieuw oplaait wanneer een jonge boerenknecht onbewust een poort opent tussen onze wereld en die van een angstaanjagend ras van reuzen. Als de reuzen weer voor het eerst in deze eeuw worden losgelaten op Aarde streven ze er naar om het land terug te winnen wat ze ooit hebben verloren.
