Aleister, een uitgerangeerde alcoholverslaafde scenarioschrijver, wordt als hoofdverdachte gezien in de moord op de dochter van de senator. De filmstudent Lavinia die hij ontmoet heeft raakt ook betrokken in de zaak, alsmede de fee die hij ziet in een dronken bui. Wanneer verschillende details uit Aleisters script blijken uit te komen wordt hij gedwongen om te blijven schrijven in de hoop dat hij zijn naam kan zuiveren.
