In het Mexicaanse Juárez wil de homoseksuele worstelaar Saúl het typetje El Topo van zich afschudden. Vanaf nu wil hij zijn ster zien rijzen. Zijn nieuwe trainer Sabrina stelt hem voor een nieuw exotisch en vrouwelijker personage te creëren. De flamboyante Cassandro is geboren en weet de aandacht en genegenheid van het publiek voor zich te winnen. Zijn succes heeft een weerslag op Saúls relatie met zijn moeder en met zijn geheime minnaar Gerardo.
