Dave Spritz is een succesvolle weerman in Chicago. Hij werkt voor een groot televisiestation en heeft eigenlijk weinig te klagen. Ware het niet dat zijn privéleven een zooitje is. Hij is gescheiden van zijn wat neurotische vrouw, hij heeft geen band met zijn puberzoon en probeert de band die hij heeft met zijn ongelukkige, te zware dochtertje krampachtig te verbeteren. Zijn relatie met zijn vader, een intellectueel die ernstig ziek blijkt te zijn, is ook verre van liefdevol. Wanneer Dave een geslaagde auditie doet voor de weermanpositie bij een grote landelijke zender en hij naar New York moet verhuizen, slaat de grote twijfel toe. Hoe harder hij probeert het contact met zijn familie op orde te krijgen, hoe meer hij zich realiseert dat het leven al net zo onvoorspelbaar is als het weer.
Nee, helaas is The Weather Man nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
