Athena's broer, de zonnegod Apollo, komt terug naar Aarde om Athena terug te brengen naar de hemel en het rijk van haar over te nemen. Hij brengt de overleden gouden beschermheiligen en een aantal goden tot leven om te dienen als lijfwachten. Maar Athena gehoorzaamt niet en Apollo heeft weinig keuze dan haar naar de hel te sturen. Seiya en zijn vrienden zijn evenwel onderweg om Athena te redden.
