Privé-detective Derek Lindor krijgt van een zekere Lawson de opdracht zijn vrouw Mary te zoeken. Zij is al 6 maanden spoorloos. Lindor vindt haar terug in Portland, waar ze als karakterdanseres werkt. Wanneer hij dit aan Lawson wil melden, vindt hij hem vermoord in zijn wagen. Van de politie krijgt hij te horen dat de man Daniels heet. Mary beweert bovendien dat ze de man helemaal niet kent.
