Julian, een Chinese jongen, is geadopteerd door een donkere familie. De familie (Joe en Annabelle Lee) en de eveneens geadopteerde handelsstudent May-Ling zijn nu zijn nieuwe familie. Hij probeert zich aan te passen in een van de meest zwarte buurten van South Central.
