Het verhaal begint in Anpanman World, waar iedereen druk bezig is zich klaar te maken voor het jaarlijkse Star Festival. Op die dag komt er een ei uit de vuilnisbak van Baikinman tevoorschijn, en wanneer het uitkomt, komt er van binnenuit een mysterieuze jongen genaamd Kurun tevoorschijn. Hoewel Kurun niet weet waar hij vandaan komt, brengt hij zijn dagen door met plezier maken met iedereen. Maar op een dag beginnen er zwarte sterren te regenen. Anpanman denkt dat er iets verdachts aan de hand is bij de Star of Life, en hij gaat op onderzoek.
