Elke nacht, terwijl de stad slaapt, sleept Ahmad, een voormalige Pakistaanse rockster die immigrant is geworden, zijn zware kar door de straten van New York. En elke ochtend verkoopt hij koffie en donuts aan een stad die hij niet de zijne kan noemen. Op een dag wordt het patroon van dit harde bestaan echter doorbroken door een sprankje hoop op een beter leven.
