Als Matthew Lloyd in opstand komt tegen de uitbuiting van parelduikers op de Polynesische eilanden, wordt hij door de handelaars op zinkend schip opgesloten. Lloyd overleeft echter en spoelt aan op een tot dan toe onontdekt eiland, waar hij al snel verliefd wordt op één van de inboorlingen.
