Muriel is een mooie jonge vrouw, maar bedlegerig sinds een ernstig ongeluk. Leo is een aan de drank verslaafde ex-bokser van middelbare leeftijd. Hij is wanhopig op zoek naar werk en ongeschoold. Hij gaat een gesprek aan met Muriel, die hem huurt om voor haar te koken en te zorgen. Geleidelijk aan wint Leo haar vertrouwen.
