Tom, een jonge man met een roerig verleden, wordt meegezogen in een louche onderwereld door George Norris. Als hulpeloze pion in een van Norris' narcotische zwendelpraktijken met een corrupte agent, Dunston, wordt Tom dieper meegesleept in een vicieuze cirkel van bloedgeld, ondeugd en meedogenloos geweld waaruit ze geen uitweg lijken te hebben. Totdat het lot Tom een sprankje hoop geeft. Wanneer Norris in zijn appartement wordt vermoord, grijpt Tom zijn kans om te ontsnappen. Doodsbang en bedekt met het bloed van Norris, gaat Tom naar beneden, naar zijn buren, Max en Nikki, zijn nieuwe vrienden in de stad. Omdat naar de politie stappen uitgesloten is, brengen Max en Nikki Tom snel naar hun verlaten huisje diep op het platteland van Wales. Met de luxe van ruimte begint Tom een lang vergeten droom te verwezenlijken; een terugkeer naar gelukkiger tijden voordat zijn onschuld werd verbrijzeld. Onderdrukte emoties komen terug, veroorzaakt door Toms aantrekkingskracht op Nikki...
