Achtervolgd door pijnlijke herinneringen en toenemende angstaanvallen ontsnapt Martha aan een gewelddadige sekte en keert terug naar huis om bij haar oudere zus Lucy en haar man Ted te gaan wonen. Zonder andere familie om op terug te vallen, probeert Martha wanhopig om zich aan te passen aan de levensstijl van Ted en Lucy. Nachtmerries over de sekte die haar gehersenspoeld hebben voorkomen dat ze contact zoekt met de enige mensen die in staat zijn haar te redden. Terwijl Martha's isolement groeit, escaleert haar ernstige paranoia.
