David Greene woont in New York en is een fan van basketbal. Hij krijgt de mogelijkheid om trainer te worden op een middelbare school in een klein stadje in Nevada. David brengt voor versterking van scholieren enkele dubieuze spelers mee, waarmee hij het schoolteam wil omtoveren tot een geolied basketbalteam dat de komende kampioenschappen gaat winnen.
