'Leto' speelt zich af in Leningrad in de zomer van 1981. Viktor Tsoi is een jonge muzikant die nog weinig bekendheid heeft vergaard. Hij ontmoet Mike Naumenko, die de rol van mentor op zich zal nemen, en diens vrouw Natasha.
