Derrick (Martin) is een rechtenstudent die een baan neemt als seatfiller (iemand die de lege plekken bij speciale gelegenheden opvult) om de eindjes aan elkaar te kunnen knopen. Op een dag is hij naast mooie popsuperster Jhnelle (Rowland) gezet, die hem met een bekende platenbaas verwart. De twee gaan met elkaar uit. Maar Derrick moet creatief zijn om de schijn hoog te houden. Wanneer het paar voor elkaar begint te vallen, moet Derrick kiezen tussen zijn geweten en liefde van zijn leven.
