De aspirant-journaliste Blake Conway is een hopeloze romanticus die bang is voor haar toekomst na afstuderen. Om de lege bankrekening voor te zijn en het gebrek aan de romantiek in haar leven te compenseren, geeft ze zich uit als een sugar baby. Ze houdt haar avontuurtjes bij in de hoop een journalistieke award, met bijhorend prijskaartje, te winnen en stelt zichzelf de vraag of ze met haar nieuwe bezigheid een prijs betaalt in de vorm van haar eigenwaarde.
