Een politie-onderhandelaar is na een schorsing van zes maanden weer voor de eerste dag aan het werk. Hij wordt opgeroepen voor een bankoverval en gijzeling. Hij ontdekt al snel dat de leider van de overvallers zijn lang vergeten broer is die hij jaren eerder achter de tralies heeft geholpen. De overvallers zetten alles in het werk om uit de bank te ontkomen en ondertussen ook de onderhandelaar te vernederen.
