Waargebeurd verhaal over een 84-jaar oude, trotse Mau Mau veteraan in Kenia die is vastbesloten om op zijn oude leeftijd nog te leren lezen en schrijven. Aangezien hij vroeger nooit de mogelijkheid tot scholing heeft gehad. Hij start te midden van een klas met 6-jarige kinderen, maar hij en zijn jonge lerares zijn vastbesloten hun doel te bereiken.
