Een meisje zal worden geofferd aan een totempaal, in een verborgen stad, diep in de jungle. In deze geheime stad zijn zowel waardevolle juwelen verborgen, als ook een formule voor zeer gevaarlijke explosieven. Majoor Francis Martling en Ula Vale zetten beiden, los van elkaar, een expeditie op touw op deze schatten in handen te krijgen. Tarzan sluit zich aan bij Martling om het ontvoerde meisje te redden.
