Na zestien jaar van motivatiespeeches wordt optimistische verkoopmanager Nick Porter plotseling ontslagen. Eenmaal thuisgekomen ontdekt hij dat zijn vrouw hem heeft verlaten. Al snel worden zijn auto ingenomen en zijn rekeningen bevroren. Ten einde raad houdt Nick een alles-of-niets rommelmarkt in z'n tuin.
