Tim Goodmans vader wordt op mysterieuze wijze ontvoerd. Op een dag ontmoet Tim een Pikachu, een eigenaardig pratend wezen dat niet zo sterk en wendbaar is als andere Pikachu's, maar claimt een uitermate goede rechercheur te zijn.
