Na de tragische dood van zijn vriendin is literatuurprofessor Samuel Salomon niet meer in staat om te werken. Deze gebeurtenis is reeds een jaar geleden. Sindsdien heeft hij echter ook last van een gruwelijke nachtmerrie, die blijft terugkeren. In de nachtmerrie ziet hij hoe een jonge vrouw op brute wijze omgebracht wordt tijdens een mysterieus ritueel. Wanneer deze vrouw onder deze omstandigheden dood aangetroffen wordt, begeeft Salomon zich naar de plaats delict. Hij ontmoet er Rachel, een vrouw die dezelfde nachtmerrie heeft als hij. Samen besluiten zij uit te zoeken wie de vrouw precies was.
