Mary McArdle keert terug naar Drogheda na een korte periode in de gevangenis gezeten te hebben voor iets wat ze liever wil vergeten. Terug thuis blijkt dat alles en iedereen veranderd is. Haar beste vriendin Charlene staat op het punt te trouwen en Mary is bruidsmeisje. Wanneer Charlene Mary een gunst weigert op grond van het feit dat ze waarschijnlijk geen date kan vinden, is Mary vastbesloten haar ongelijk te bewijzen. Maar haar pogingen voor een afpraakje te maken zijn een ramp en ze belandt steeds meer in het gevoel dat ze er alleen voor staat... totdat ze Jess ontmoet en alles verandert.
