Deanna is langdurig een toegewijde huisvrouw geweest. Wanneer ze gedumpt wordt door haar man, besluit ze haar vaardigheden bij te spijkeren. Ze schrijft zich in op een middelbare school, maar komt in dezelfde klas als haar dochter, die daar minder blij mee is. Desalniettemin heeft Deanna, die zichzelf Dee Rock noemt, het leven op de campus omarmd.
