De kwaadaardige Dr. Kochin gebruikt de drakenballen om zijn mentor, Dr. Wheelo, weer tot leven te wekken in een poging de wereld over te nemen. Dr. Wheelo, wiens lichaam is vernietigd door de lawine die hem vijftig jaar eerder heeft gedood, verlangt naar het lichaam van de sterkste jager ter wereld als zijn nieuwe schip. Dr. Kochin gelooft dat Roshi de sterkste krijger ter wereld is, ontvoert Bulma en dwingt Roshi zich over te geven om haar te redden. Als Goku hoort van hun ontvoering, schiet hij hen te hulp.
