Biografisch epos gebaseerd op de posthuum gepubliceerde dagboeken van de legendarische journalist en activist Soe Hok Gie (1942-1969), die in de ingewikkelde jaren van Soeharto en de opkomst van Soekarno, zich kritisch bleef opstellen. Via de bevlogen, jonge rebel biedt de film ook een schets van Jakarta in de jaren zestig.
Nee, helaas is Gie nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
