De outlaw Joe Maybe wordt abusievelijk aangezien voor een beroemde politieofficier. Dit zou niet erg zijn als Joe niet toevallig van plan was om samen met zijn handlanger Sam Teeler de plaatselijke bank te beroven. Nog grotere problemen staan Joe te wachten, wanneer hij verliefd wordt op de onweerstaanbare brunette Tessa Milotte, de ex-vriendin van zijn maat Teeler.
