John Whitmore wordt wakker op een ochtend en ontdekt dat zijn vrouw Anne niet meer naast hem ligt. In haar plaats vindt hij een opgenomen bericht voor losgeld. De mysterieuze opname draagt John op contact te zoeken met een man genaamd David. Hij zal John en het losgeld naar een huisje diep in het bos leiden, waar hij herenigd zal worden met zijn vrouw. Als John probeert zich de voorgaande avond te herinneren, begint hij te twijfelen aan de motieven van David en aan de hele situatie.
