Film over het leven van Chet Baker. Baker, die als jazztrompettist in de jaren vijftig wist door te breken en waarvan zijn carrière voorbij leek toen hij door een gewelddadige aanval zijn tanden verloor. Na een periode van drugsverslavingen probeert hij in de jaren zeventig een comeback te maken.
