In deze film wordt het lot van een gedesillusioneerde tempelier uit Jeruzalem, na de nederlaag tegen de Ajjoebiden onder leiding van Saladin in 1187 geportretteerd. Deze tempelier, geplaagd door de nederlaag en misvattingen, moet zich overgeven aan de vijand.
