De 18-jarige Doug haalt zich meer op zijn hals dan hij vooraf had kunnen bedenken wanneer hij een affaire begint met Lena, een jonge vrouw van een bankier die het naastgelegen huis aan het meer huurt. Wanneer haar man plotseling overlijdt blijkt er een aanzienlijke levensverzekering afgesloten te zijn. Al snel wordt iedereen verdacht.
