Amy's vader, Franco, was een populaire rockmuzikant die per ongeluk geëlektrocuteerd werd tijdens een optreden op het podium. Door het psychologische trauma is Amy doof en doof geworden. Daarom wordt de 8-jarige door haar moeder, Tanya, naar Melbourne gebracht om de redenen voor haar aanhoudende stilzwijgen te achterhalen.
