De film speelt zich af rond een universiteit in de jaren 20. Bibliothecaris Connie Lane (Allyson) wordt verliefd op de footballheld Tommy Marlowe (Lawford). Helaas is de liefde niet werderzijds; hij valt namelijk voor de verleidster Pat McClellan. Tommy begaat een slippertje, wat hem een belangrijke wedstrijd kost. Connie komt erachter dat Tommy eigenlijk van haar houdt en verzint een plan om hem terug te winnen voor haar en voor het football.
