Professor George Challenger wil bewijzen dat er nog dinosaurussen bestaan en onderneemt daarom een expeditie naar het Amazone-woud. De wetenschappers ontdekken naast de dino's echter ook een groep gemuteerde apen, die er rotsvast in geloven dat professor Challenger een god is.
