Lauren Hennessey heeft altijd van koken gehouden en is een trotse perfectionist in haar baan bij de proefkeuken van 'Food & Entertainment Magazine', terwijl ze ervan droomt eindelijk een culinaire school in Parijs te kunnen betalen. Als haar baas haar een bonus aanbiedt als ze ermee instemt om het kookboek van een moeilijke beroemde chef-kok te ghostwriting, ziet Lauren haar droom werkelijkheid worden zodra ze de beruchte bad boy-chef in kwestie, Dexter Durant, kan temmen. Langzaam trekt ze de lagen van Dexters stoere persoonlijkheid van zich af en begint ze een andere, kwetsbare kant van deze grote chef-kok te zien. Plotseling worden hun duellerende culinaire stijlen de perfecte aanvulling in de keuken en begint de aantrekkingskracht tussen hen over te koken.
