Plot

Thaddeus J. Banner is een rijke excentriekeling, die een verwilderde kater adopteert. Hij noemt het dier Rhubarb en raakt steeds meer aan hem gehecht. T.J. Banner houdt zelfs zoveel van zijn kater, dat hij na zijn overlijden al zijn bezittingen, inclusief een complete baseballclub in Brooklyn, nalaat aan Rhubarb. Het baseballteam wil zich verzetten tegen deze vreemde situatie, maar journalist Eric Yeager probeert hen ervan te overtuigen dat Rhubarb als mascotte kan dienen.
