Voormalig gala-koning Scott keert terug naar huis voor Thanksgiving en wordt gedumpt door zijn vriendin. Nu zijn wereld op zijn kop staat, sluit Scott een onwaarschijnlijke vriendschap met zijn voormalige klasgenoot Tori, een lelijk eendje dat opbloeide in haar eerste semester op de universiteit, en samen beginnen ze aan een waanzinnig avontuur door hun geboortestad. Maar wanneer Scott en Tori verliefd worden, beseffen ze dat een paar maanden weg hen misschien wel meer veranderd hebben dan ze dachten.
