Vince Rizzo is een gevangenisbewaarder in de Bronx. Op een dag ontdekt hij dat zijn buitenechtelijke relatie twintig jaar geleden een zoon op de wereld heeft gezet, de gevangene Tony Nardella. Vince besluit zijn zoon te beschermen, en hem op te nemen in de familie. Het grote struikelblok is het feit dat Vince 20 jaar zwijgzaamheid over zijn slippertje nu moet doorbreken, of hij zal moeten liegen over de ware identiteit van Tony.
