Wanneer, tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog, de geallieerden de troepen van Rommel in Afrika een zware slag toe willen brengen door hun brandstofvoorziening te saboteren, loopt dit onverhoopt mis. Bevelhebber Masters staat voor de taak om met een groep huurlingen die klus alsnog te klaren. De huurlingen lopen echter in een val en de onderlinge vijandigheid zorgt eveneens voor aanzienlijke problemen.
