Het gezapig burgerlijk bestaan van een stoner, genaamd Mike (Jesse Eisenberg), en diens vriendin wordt verstoord wanneer het verleden hem lijkt te achtervolgen. Mike blijkt een zogenoemde ‘sleeper agent’ te zijn en wordt het doelwit van een operatie van de regering die hem probeert weg te vagen.
