Na het succes van de live Assepoester uit 1957 op CBS (met Julie Andrews), besloot het netwerk nog een televisieversie te produceren. Het nieuwe script kwam dichter bij het traditionele verhaal, hoewel bijna alle originele nummers behouden bleven en in hun originele setting werden uitgevoerd. Aan de partituur van Rodgers en Hammerstein werd 'Loneliness of Evening' toegevoegd, dat was gecomponeerd voor South Pacific maar niet werd gebruikt.
Nee, helaas is Cinderella nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
