Fioravante (John Turturro) en Murray (Woody Allen) zijn berooid en elkaars beste vrienden. Om geld te verdienen besluiten ze samen in de wereld der gigolo's te stappen. Murray wordt Fioravante's manager. Ze trekken echter al snel de aandacht van de chassidische (een ultraorthodoxe richting binnen het jodendom) gemeenschap waarin ze leven.
