Het verhaal over een 11-jarig jongetje dat in de jaren '80 de wrede Burgeroorlog in El Salvador moet zien te overleven. De jongen moet zich ondanks zijn leeftijd snel bewust worden van de situatie in zijn land en beslissen welke kant hij kiest: die van het leger of die van de guerrilla's.
