De zestienjarige Renato Manfredini is veroordeeld tot een rolstoel. Dit alles door een degeneratieve ziekte. Het duurt niet lang of hij zoekt zijn toevlucht in poëzie en muziek. Hij vindt enige troost in zijn droom om bandleider te worden van een grote rockband. Maar dan ontdekt hij de punkbeweging.
