In 1879, nadat ze de eerste veldslag hebben gewonnen, bieden de Britse kolonisten een onmogelijk ultimatum aan de koning. Deze reageert met het op oorlogspad sturen van zijn krijgers. De Britten zijn vol vertrouwen over hun wapentechnologieën en de kwaliteiten en organisatie van hun leger, en met goede moed vallen ze Zululand binnen. De veldslag bij Isandlwana wordt door de ogen van strijders van beide kampen gevolgd, en laat de arrogantie van de Britten goed zien, die hun tegenstanders zwaar onderschatten...
