Ster-sportverslaggever Sweet Coetzee wordt aan de dijk gezet ten voordele van de klier George Weedle, omdat hij zich nooit aan de regels houdt. Om zijn vernedering van zich af te zetten, zoekt hij ontspanning in een casino. Op het ogenblik dat hij de jackpot wint, valt een kruimeldief op zijn hoofd. Hierdoor raakt hij in coma. Na twee jaar ontwaakt hij uit zijn coma, dankzij de kleine Alfred Short. Hij ontwaakt in een nieuw Zuid-Afrika waar apartheid verleden tijd is. Samen met de jongen wreekt hij zich op zijn rivaal.
