Verscheidene verhaallijnen worden door elkaar verweven om een beeld te geven hoe het wapenbeleid in de Verenigde Staten individuele levens beïnvloedt. Onder meer de eigenaar van een wapenwinkel, een alleenstaande moeder en een schoolhoofd krijgen te maken met de gevolgen van de wapens in de maatschappij.
