Het is inmiddels dertien jaar geleden dat de Screamers (robotachtige moordmachines) de menselijke bevolking op de planeet Sirius 6B hebben uitgeroeid. Maar dan wordt er een signaal gezonden vanaf de planeet. De reddingsbrigade reist af naar de planeet. Zullen er nog een aantal overlevenden zijn? Of zullen de Screamers geëvolueerd zijn in een mensachtig soort wezen en zo weer een poging wagen de gehele mensheid uit te roeien?
