Tijdens China's Tang-dynastie reist een karavaan naar het Westen. Zij vervoeren een heilig bot van Boeddha. In de karavaan bevinden zich allerlei mensen van verschillend pluimage, elk met hun eigen motieven om de reis te ondernemen. Onder hen bevindt zich ook An, die van plan is het bot te stelen.
